MANDURAH CITY SOCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE PLAN COMMUNITY FORUM

Between 30th April 2012 and 30th May 2012, Shorea facilitated 6 Community Forums for 120 representatives from the Not for Profit Sector in Mandurah. The sessions build on the "Mapping our Community Together" survey series in trying to establish the needs, challenges and opportunities for the sector over the next 30 years (until 2042). The sessions included the following themes:

1 Heritage & Environment
2 Recreation, Health and Well Being
3 Social (including Crisis) Support
4 Education, Learning & Employment
5 Arts & Culture

FACILITATION SKILLS WORKSHOP - BRIDGING THE GAP

On 10-11th March 2012, 10 leaders and facilitators from Bridging the Gap's Crossing Point Leaders' Academy (CLPA) attended Shorea's "Facilitating Experiential Learing" Workshop at Fairbridge. Participants at the workshop will be facilitating CLPA's (http://bridgingthegap.org.au/young-people/crossing-point-leaders-academy/) 7 day residential youth development camps in 2012.

OUTDOORS WA INDUSTRY TRAINING INITIATIVE WRAP UP

On 14th March 2012, Together with Andy Wahid of Bridging the Gap, the Final Draft of the Findings and Proposals for the Outdoors WA Industry Initiative and the Proposed Aboriginal Outdoor Development Scheme was presented to the Outdoors WA Board marking the end of an 8 month consultancy. Earlier, a pilot run for Outdoor Leaders and Guides was delivered by Fairbridge at the DSR Woodman Point Camp. 19 Outdoor Leaders/Guides went through the pilot run. Outdoors WA will consider the recommendations of the submissions to plan the way forward for instructor/guide training in the sector.

FACILITATION SKILLS WORKSHOP FOR COMMUNITY SERVICES UNIT, MANDURAH CITY

On 25th October 2011, an introductory one day workshop on Facilitation Skills was delivered to the Community Services Unit of Manduray City at Lakelands.
